Five notes on how the Anxiera system is designed and made. These are formulation and craft decisions — not health, medical or performance claims about the finished product.

The isolation protocol

How we take a flower apart and keep only the part that matters.

Chamomile tea is a whole-plant infusion: sugar-bound flavonoids, chlorophyll, waxes and water, in whatever ratio that harvest happened to produce. Anxiera is the opposite of an infusion. Below is the actual sequence that turns a dried flower head into a standardised, dormant apigenin matrix — and the reason each step exists.

1. 01

   Sourced flower heads, not plant dust

   Matricaria chamomilla L. · EU-grown · < 12 months from harvest

   We buy whole dried flower heads from a small number of contracted growers, never milled 'chamomile powder' of unknown anatomy. Apigenin concentrates in the flower head; stems and leaves dilute it. Every incoming lot arrives with a grower declaration, a harvest date and a pesticide residue screen, and is identity-confirmed by TLC against a reference standard before a single gram enters the process.

   Hydro-ethanolic extraction at low temperature

   Food-grade ethanol/water · ≤ 40 °C · light-excluded vessels

   The flower heads are macerated in a food-grade ethanol–water mixture held below 40 °C. Heat is the enemy here: above roughly 60 °C the flavonoid glycosides begin to degrade and the aromatic fraction is driven off. Low-temperature extraction takes longer and yields less, but it keeps the flavonoid profile of the crude extract close to the profile of the flower itself.

   Enzymatic conversion of glycosides to free apigenin

   Apigenin-7-O-glucoside → apigenin aglycone

   In the raw plant, most apigenin is bound as apigenin-7-O-glucoside — a sugar-conjugated form that is bulkier and far less lipophilic. A controlled enzymatic hydrolysis step cleaves that sugar and releases the free aglycone. This is the single most important step in the whole process: the free aglycone is the form most commonly described in the flavonoid chemistry literature indexed below.

   Chromatographic isolation and de-waxing

   Column separation · chlorophyll, wax and coumarin fractions discarded

   The crude extract is passed over a polar column that separates the flavonoid band from chlorophyll, plant waxes and the coumarin fraction. Those discarded fractions are what make an ordinary chamomile extract green, oily and unsuitable for a fine aromatic mist. What is retained is a pale, wax-free flavonoid concentrate — an isolate, not an oil and not a tincture.

5. 05

   Potency assay before anything is dried

   HPLC-UV quantification against a certified apigenin reference

   Each isolate lot is quantified by HPLC-UV against a certified apigenin reference standard, and the lot is normalised to a fixed flavonoid load per unit rather than to a fixed weight of plant matter. Two harvests are never chemically identical; standardising to the assay — not to the biomass — is the only way each kit delivers the same amount of the botanical isolate as the last one.

6. 06

   Lyophilization into a dormant matrix

   Freeze-dried under vacuum · residual moisture target < 3%

   The normalised isolate is frozen and the water removed under vacuum by sublimation, with no heat step. What remains is a dry, porous matrix holding the flavonoid load in suspended animation. Water is what lets hydrolysis and oxidation proceed; removing it is what allows the core to sit in an amber, light-excluded bottle without losing potency on the shelf.

7. 07

   The catalyst is filled separately — on purpose

   0.9% isotonic saline · hyaluronic acid · potassium sorbate · USP-grade purified water · alcohol-free

   The second vial is a 0.9% isotonic saline base in USP-grade purified water, matched to the body's own salt balance, with a low level of hyaluronic acid as a humectant and a low level of potassium sorbate so the mist stays comfortable and fresh over a full 30-day cycle. It is filled, sealed and shipped separately. A single-bottle spray starts ageing the day it is filled; a two-part kit does not begin its clock until you pour one into the other.

8. 08

   Batch release, then a 30-day honest window

   Identity, purity, heavy metals, microbial load · COA on request

   Every lyophilization run carries a batch number and is released only after identity, purity, heavy-metal and microbial testing. Once you activate the kit, the flavonoid load is back in water and the clock restarts — which is why we print a 30-day post-activation window and a two-activation daily ceiling instead of a vague 'best before' date.
